My sister would tell you that I'm obsessed with fragrancing things that don't need fragrance. She would tell you that a natural scent beats essential-oil induced smells every time (except BO and other bodily smells... I'm quite sure she is also not a fan). I cannot agree. Towels, bed linen, mattresses, curtains, cushions... I like to give them all a spritz with my homemade linen water.
I make my linen water with 1 cup vodka, 1 cup water and 1 teaspoon of essential lavender oil. Sometimes I throw in a few drops of geranium oil or lemon oil, but generally it's just lavender.
I pinned this pin from Tipnut because it's got lots of fancy DIY ways to scent your home. I tried the baking soda mattress trick and it worked a treat.

I just made homemade laundry detergent and I put lavender oil in it...I love the smell!
I will check out that link!
Thanks!
I love the smell of lavender - I'll definitely be checking this out! Thank you!
I think that is the most worrying use of vodka I've ever heard of -- I don't think I'll ever get the hang of girls... :-)
Hey gorgeous,
Curious about the vodka! Is it included for its preservative qualities?
My mum made me some lavender linen water recently and it is starting to look & smell a bit suspect. Partly, I suspect because the stopper for the bottle it is in is not 100% airtight. And partly because of the darn heat.
I haven't worked up the guts to use it...!

I am totally trying that. I buy some now, and it's expensive. The scent also doesn't seem to last.
Kat - it's there as an emulsifier between the oil and water. I'm sure it preserves as well. I quite like a vodka and I am very youthful... x
I guess that means you cant drink the vodka. Hmm.
