Where will we go this year?
With a fresh pack on our back stuffed full of everything we want the year to hold close. Overflowing with kindness, with purpose and with imagining. I am here, I dream, I believe. I matter,we matter, it matters.
My word this year is going to be...
Simple.
Last year it was 'better', but I learned a lesson from that one. Sometimes better isn't what we want to be at all. Sometimes we just want to be right where we are right now and grateful for that.
So, we're slowing things down around here. Decluttering, sorting, appreciating and pausing. Being more in harmony with right now, rather than always searching for what next.
Last year I did a linky for everyone to link up their word for the year. I confess, I am a little over linkys and the pressure they can sometimes bring. So, instead, I invite you to share your focus for 2013 in the comments below and a link to your blog post if you have one. I will add the links at the end of this post as we go.
Simple. I like it already.
Happy brand new year. How will you spend it?

Simple inspired me in 2011 and then I lost control in 2012, so I'm back to simple in 2013. That said I was also thinking quiet. 2013 has to be about getting ahead financially and I think that means it will be a quiet one. I'm not quite sure how I feel about that yet!
Happy New Year dear Maxabella... My one word would have to be 'Savour'. I want to savour life and not rush. My aim is to slow down and take it in all the good things life has to offer me and my girl this year :) There's so much to do and so much to discover, so much wonder to take in...
Sophie xo
This year I'm attempting the massive task of 'organised' eek!
http://silverthreadsofhappiness.blogspot.com.au/2012/12/2013-year-of.html
for me its going to be all about 'home'
http://marjoryjane.blogspot.com.au/2013/01/hello-2013-one-word.html
Happy New Year Bron.
I love this post and the exciting, calming and opportunist feelings it erupted in me.
SIMPLE - perfection. Something I need to strive for more often.
I am half way through my 'wrap up 2012, starting 2013' post so will come back later and add my link to another comment :)
Until then.... Happy New Year my dear. May your 2013 be filled with lots of love, peace and happy times.
xx
hoping for a slow year here. going to have a newborn in a few short weeks and something (a lot!) will have to give. gotta get my head around it...
wishing you a 'simply' lovely 2013 x
Happy New Year Bron!
'Simple' is good, and and oh so important. This year my word is strength..
http://littletedcanvas.blogspot.com.au/2013/01/one-word.html
it feels good..x
Happy New Year to year dear Bron. I love your word for 2013, always something I strive for more and more.
This year my word is 'PRESENT'. Not that I want lots of presents, although that would be nice, but no I am aiming to be present in everything I do. To focus and concentrate 100% on each task. Gone are the multi tasking days that lead to stress and headaches, I am focusing on one thing at a time and giving my full energy. So whether it be spending time with the family, working on my dance wear business or my writing and blogging, each one deserves 100% focus. It's going to be tough, but very worthwhile if I can pull it off.
Looking forward to sharing 2013 with you in the blogosphere x
Was it really a year ago we did one word?!!
My word for 2012 was 'No' and I was surprisingly successful with that.
I think my one word for 2013 is going to be 'float' - which is related to this post: http://www.kellyexeter.com.au/becalmed/
ahhh i breathe a sweet sigh of relief to read that word 'simple'- what a goal. I tink i'll join you
xo em
I tend to just flow with a theme for a season..and I can feel the urge to purge coming on. There's some gentle reorganising and corner sorting coming on here...and a gloriously activity free month right now to do some in. Mind you...no schedules or pressure..a little at a time! Happy New Year!
Last year I felt that I couldn't pack the expectation of a huge 2012 into one word, so I chose three... Wellness, Wealth and Connection. Oops! I think I managed Connection pretty well, but the other two went a bit pear-shaped. So I've proved that a multiple focus doesn't work. During the past few weeks, I've been contemplating loads of words for this year, and it's been hard narrowing down to one. In these I chose "Grateful". I have spent the past 3 years wanting success, wanting to make a difference, wanting to prove myself... I haven't achieved my goals, but I think I have learned so much about myself and experienced incredible love and joy... and so, I am grateful.
Great word. Definitely decluttering, simplifying and slowing here. But I would like a 'better' version of myself, a fitter stronger version, because I'm not so in harmony with my body right now!
P.S. I'm not going anywhere!
Simple is definitely a good one. My word is Organize, a bit more about that here: http://randomactsofzen.com/2013/01/01/my-fresh-start-for-2013/
Hope 2013's fabulous Bron x
I hope your year will be great!!!
i'm a big fan of a word for the year. It started a few years ago with the year of 'me', then it was 'survival' and last year the word was 'shine'. This year it'll be something along the line of 'breathing' and 'space', ie having some space to breathe and not be chasing my tail constantly. time to inhale and exhale fully. not sure if that makes any sense whatsoever! i think your word would fit nicely in their too. simple sounds like a perfect word for 2013. Doing a whole lot of decluttering and slowing down here too and catching up on lots and lots of sleep! Happy New Year!
last year was CONFIDENCE : http://www.michellegeorge.net/2012/12/31/confidence-2012-in-review/
this year will be INTERDEPENDENCE:
http://www.michellegeorge.net/2013/01/01/interdependence-my-word-for-2013/
not sure where it might take me...but we'll see :)
I like simple, that pretty much sums up my wishes/choices for the year. My last year's word didn't go so well. Well I learnt a lot about that word (calm) but the year manifested a lot of quite the opposite. This year I'm making choices, choosing fun and slow and to listen more than I talk... This post explains it http://www.withgraceandeve.blogspot.com/2012/12/a-word-choice-year.html xx
Happy New Year! Simple sounds good. I'll be thinking about my new word for 2013.
Simple is lovely. I think I'm going to go with 'joyous.' (Organised is a leetle too much to hope for.) This year I hope to savour the moment and be joyous!
happy 2013!
Here's to "simple"...if anyone can do it, it's you Bron:)
In 2012 my word was "dare"...sadly 2012 was a lesson in humility on that front! Would love you to read my New Years post on the year that was...
My word for 2013 for you lovely Bron is "acceptance". Acceptance of what life throws my way and making lemonade out of Lemons when it's required!
Totally get you on the simple. Just posted mine myself but could not get it to one word. Mine is "less stuff, more life". If I could just stop my mother bringing over more new toys, I would be making better progress! mel x
Happy New Year to you, lvoely Bron:) Love the word simple. It's my word for the year too. Love your blog and looking forward to hanging out here in this lovely fresh new year. xx
My bloggy link
I absolutely LOVE the one word approach to the New Year. I used mine all year last year. It was FOCUS.
This year I choose WILL.
You can read about it here

Cheers!
Happy New Word
Leanne @ Deep Fried Fruit
I'm openly, honestly thieving your word Bron, hope you don't mind! Due in 7 weeks with bub no 2 and I think perhaps my mind took on a crazy Christmas version of nesting...no dusting or cleaning out cupboards here, just staying up WAY too late for a preggo lady for weeks on end, making and baking and am now utterly stuffed! Was fun...but 2013, yup, simple for me too. Happy New Year to you and your family & friends! Love reading your blog and seeing your pics. x Chris
Simple sounds perfect. For us this year it is very similar, it's about enjoying the small things. Xx
'Simple' was my word for last year, and it was the best. So good I'm going to try and stick with it this year - with the baby here now I think it will be important to get the basics right.
Happy new year!
I have a word. I even have a half-written post. If and when I finish it, I'll be back. Happy New Year!
Hi Bron - I think this year's word is 'Learn' (how this is different to any other year of my life is yet to be determined).
I've signed up for three courses on Coursera (most excited about e-learning & digital culture), have started making steps towards learning Cantonese, made a preliminary list of new places to visit this year and may even learn to sail.
Simple is nice. Good luck with simple.
I might try my luck with 'patience'. Patience with my daughter, my husband, my family, well-wishers, people who touch my bulging belly, patience as D-day approaches, patience with new bub, patience with well-meaning people giving 'advice', but most of all, patience with myself when I don't have all the answers.
And now I've written my post on my word for 2013.... http://froggooseandbear.blogspot.com.au/2013/01/a-new-year-and-some-breathing-space.html?m=1. Thanks for the inspiration!
I love simple.
I am going with normal...2012 saw a fair bit of chaos and I would love a year where we are all just happy and healthy and mostly organised!
Not boring...just calm and content.
And if we can manage to save a bit of money to that would be a huge bonus!
Happy 2013!
I love it. Thank you for the inspiration to jot down my thoughts. My word is more three or four but I can't think of a better way to sum up my 2013 - appreciating the here and now.
Happy new year!

Hi! :) To you too! God bless you!
I think your amazing to distil your intention down to just one word and a pretty powerful one at that. As per last year, I couldn't do it - but I have come up with a good mantra for myself nonetheless: http://notchkas-wardrobe.blogspot.co.nz/2013/01/take-it-easy.html
Loving simple!
http://www.faithhopeandawholelottalove.blogspot.com.au/2013/01/2013-one-word-do.html
I love simple.
Calm. Thats my goal. Not anxious, not worried, not flapping, just calm. I almost achieved it at the park this morning...not really but heres hoping. HNY x
Happy New Year Maxabella, what a great goal. I look forward to reading how 'Simple' works for you. I too, would love to take on a simple attitude towards everything that I do. Hayley x
I'm back!! You really got me thinking and I have come up with 'create' . Great post, thank you for the share. You gave me a great blog post idea. Thanks again. xx

Simple is a great word - taking a step back and appreciating the simple things in life :)
My 2013 word is Embrace - Embracing challenges, opportunities, creativity, change and love. Wish me luck!

The simple things in life are the best. :)
Happy New Year lovely xxxx
Happy new year lovely lady!! xo
What a lovely post (and Blog, I have joined your happy followers).
I have been doing this for our business (with hubster) but we have to pick 3 words. Simple is one of our business words. The other 2 are Efficient and Accurate.
Its very hard to pick one, but means a lot when you do get the words that resonate.
I will have to go think about my own personal 2013 word.
Best wishes to you. I will be coming back for a visit very soon.
My word for last year backfired on me, so I get what you're saying!
Two words from me for 2013...
Kindness and Fun
from Marguerite (Tas) www.sailing2xs.blogspot.com
love that word simple.
My word after last year :: joy.

Here is mine - ease http://muminsearch.com/2013/01/my-one-word-for-year/
Hello, back in Sydney for a few days and I don't know what my word is going to be. Maybe 'less'?? Less of everything... except kids of course... but certainly not more of those.
My word this year is 'finish'. We'll see how that goes. At least if it doesn't work out the way I'd hoped, I can just pretend I ALWAYS meant 'finish the chocolate'.
Mine is Moment - http://tobeinsearchof.blogspot.com.au/2013/01/word.html

Mine is happen
I'm going to make things happen , stop procrastinating and get things done, find time to make sure the things on my lists Happen!

I don't have a word, just a thought, to 'Be Happy and appreciate the moments'. Fingers crossed I can make it through the year doing both!

It would have to be "Balance", Happy New Year, and here's to keeping it simple!
Simple is a very good choice of word. I too considered it before deciding on MOVE.
Wishing you and your family a very happy and simple 2013 Bron x

Hi, It's been a while. Happy 2013 to all of us bloggers. =)
I have only just heard of this idea and I love it! My word is grateful!! I spent way to much of 2012 "wanting"so 2013 is the year for being grateful for all the blessings I already have. I blogged about being grateful back in December :)
Happy new year to you lovely:) I really like your word for 2013, I like simple and uncomplicated, I wish you all things simple and wonderful. My word for this year is enjoy, I really just want a nice year of more ups than downs and to just all that comes my way. xx
Love love your blog! Simple........ perfect word I think. Happy 2013! x
Hi there. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Always lovely to see someone new. A great word to start 2013. Keeping in Simple seems to be something I'm hearing all over the place. I'm feeling the need to tidy, clear away, get inspiration for a new year and cut back. I want to run more, spend more time with the kiddos and get out and about more - mountains, coast, walks and fresh air. Happy NY to you.
Happy New Year - and good luck with today's heatwave that is hitting down your way! Off to have a peek around your blog...
Happy New Year! Simple is a great focus to have over the year! I have no idea what my focus will be as I was so bad with my resolutions last year!
I just stumbled upon this entry now. You and I have the same word! :)
It just resonates with me.

I love your word of the year. Mine is "renovating" because that's what we will be doing this year. Not quite a positive word, but in my mind, it's full of potential!
Happy New Year dear Bronwyn. So lovely to read your beautiful words again. xx
Happy New Year. My word is HAPPY. Simple is a great word for the coming year. Good Luck with everything.
I have also shared your link in a blog post.

Happy 2013! I love the idea of a simpler life in the new year! My word would definitely be happiness, as my goal is to infuse little bits of happiness into daily life.
My word for 2013 is GROW.
The word I have chosen is Share. I am glad that I have stumbled across your blog, as you inspire me and challenge my thinking, and I enjoy reading about your life too!
