A star of wonder

Everyone in my neighbourhood must think we are very religious. It might be the 2 metre tall star that is currently gracing our front yard. Sorry about the slightly out of focus shots above... it is actually really, really hard to take photos in the dark with an instamatic camera and no tripod. Who knew!?

Yes, we've done the 'lights thing' this year. Once solar lights started making their way onto the planet, it was only a matter of time before this Tiny Tim succumbed...

I spend my nights patiently waiting on my front verandah for my first drive-by 'slow down'.

Nothing yet, but surely with that star it's only a matter of time before I'm rattling the charity bucket and booking the Mr Whippy?

Do you do the Christmas lights thing?

Love your star light creation:) We do the light thing here. The Mr took a while to come around and now he's hooked and buys new lights each year. I would prefer him to buy more solar but he's not being convinced about that one yet, we do have a few solar lights though. It's so magical having the lights on each night I really love it. Hope that first drive by happens soon. xx

Beautiful. I just love Christmas lights. We have done a few this year. It just feels so Christmassy. Well it did until some loser stole our glow in the dark 'Santa Stop Here' sign. The girls were devastated.

Oh my kids are busting for lights. I'm going to look at some solar bits and pieces after christmas (enter tightarse) That way people won't even know we're not home when we go away.

looks lovely! lights at christmas are essential-I have just come back from a few days in Amsterdam-walking along the canals, all the house boats and apartments with lights are the most welcoming and warm.

How stunning! We don't do the lights but when I visit my parents we always walk the kids along the streets with all the lights. I think we love the lights more than they do - they get distracted by the possums!

We don't do the Christmas light thing...yet...wouldn't be surprised if we do next year. We had the best fun on Saturday night driving around up in country Victoria with Bean and her cousins, looking at the beautiful lights. The effort people go to - my goodness! We saw one that had a sleigh out the front, under a spotlight, where you could hop in & take a photo of your family in front of the huge beautiful display! Wow factor high! Yours are lovely by the way...and I'd wait for the driveby too hehe. x

Looks festive! We were pondering the question - did the inventor of the photovoltaic cell realise it's primary function would be to power Christmas lights?? We've succumbed a little this year too!

:) They look lovely. We don't...probably because we lived in a unit. Who knows maybe next year when we are in a house. BUT I have some friends that do and go ALL out...in fact they won a prize for best lights in the town where they live in QLD...and they were AWESOME!!! :)

I love Christmas lights, your new star is fantastic. I hope you get lots of 'slow downs'! One year we did the unthinkable and left them up all year..the first year Mr W went out of town to work. He doesn't get here this year 'til the 21st so I don't know whether he'll have enough time to put them out...we'll have to plan earlier for next year.

Love it! I tried to take a photo of the "Stairway to the Moon" in Broome at night so I feel your pain re photos of bright things at night! My kids are desperate to get some lights out the front of our house. Next year (that is my mantra at the moment - next year - bring it on!

Oh your star is fantastic! We've got lights and candles galore inside the house but because we're out of town we don't do a lot on the outside. Yours look great, have a lovely weekend x
