This week I'm grateful for... photography

I've had an ear infection. Yes, I feel like a two year old. An excruciatingly-in-pain two year old. I will never again be intolerant with an ear infected child... that mo fo hurts like... well, fo!

We have Mr Timothy Coulson coming around super-early tomorrow morning (Saturday) to take our pictures. How cool is that? Only it's not cool now because I've been laid up with the ear-thingy for a few days and haven't 'done' the house. So Tim - who likes to take 'real life' images of family living - is quite possibly going to get more 'real life' than he bargained for.

But I'm not even worried about the house...

I'm having my picture taken. I don't really like having my picture taken. I'm about as photogenic as Brynne and I don't have the distractaboobs. Eeeek... Plus Maxi-Taxi is being a real pain in the ear whinging about having his own picture taken, so Tim's bound to appreciate the 127 images he captures of the back of my first-born's head. But not to worry... check out the gorgeous photo shoot he did with Beth's fam and the one he did with Emily's fam. See how lovely my house and family are going to look? Oh, wait, that's just Emily and Beth...

ANYWAY... this week I'm grateful for...

142. Photos - I might not like being photographed, but I'm so glad that over the years I've just leaped in front of that lens regardless. We are a very lucky generation to have our lives on film. Our up-and-coming generation (who are pretty much living out their lives for the camera) may beg to differ?

143. Light - a photographer's light, that is. I'm thinking that the ability to capture light is crucial in this image-making business. I'm hoping that Tim's mastery is going to make all those cobwebs and all the chocolate stains and all that can-never-be-removed Weetbix-glue look amaaaaazing...

144. Penicillin - thank you, thank you Mr Fleming. Without you the shoot would be shot.

So, what's making you smile today? Add your I'm Grateful For post to the list below (and please, we love you, but it really does matter that your post is a Grateful one and not just a random), add the button (grab the code from my sidebar and paste it into your post) and pretty-please add a link back to me. Then pop over to visit other bloggers who are spreading a little sunshine.

Funny that you mention photos - photographs are part of my grateful post this week too. I love looking through old photos, and as uncomfortable I feel posing and having my photo taken, I know I'd regret not having photos of myself in years to come.

Enjoy your little family photo session tomorrow xxx

I dislike (with a passion) having my photo taken too. But when you get the old photos out, you appreciate that you have them. Family photos are on our `to do' list. We have a few with Ella, but not Baby Holly! :)
I bet your photos will be gorgeous!! xx

Awww poor you Maxabella :(
I had a grown up ear infection once and I have never been in so much pain. Including labour.
Well maybe not labour. But the ear infection pain is BAAAAD so you have my total sympathy...
I hope all goes well for tomorrow and you get some fab family pictures :)

{and your ear gets better asap}
xx

It's great to have family photos, Im sure they'll be great. We're due for more soon but when they're 16,14, &11 year old boys they are *slightly* non compliant.

I can't wait to see your 'Tim' photos. The ones that I've seen of Beth and Emily's are fabulous - the man is a bit of a family photographic genius.

Ear infections are the pits so my fingers are crossed that you manage to get the ear under control.

Big hug Bella,

xx F

Oh sweetie pie, it will all look fabulous. Especially you!! I hate my photo being taken as much as the next chick, but I'd hate my kids to look back on their childhood and wonder where their mother was?!?! Most of my family photos have baskets of washing in the background. And the foreground. And sometimes under the baby's butt. You get the picture xxxxxxxxx

Thanks for the link to Tim's website, he's amazing! His photos are breathtaking. Makes me want to cry. The one time we had photos taken was for our wedding, and the photos were really disappointing. I have never made them into an album because they're just so blah.
I'd love to get Tim to shoot our family in all our non-styled goodness; wonder if he'd come to Melbs?
I'm sure your shoot will be amazing, even with the back of Maxi's head. It's all about the light after all.
Happy weekend x

I'm sure the pictures of you all will be perfect! I have only just looked at Beth's and they are fantastic. I love that he comes into your home and gets the 'real' image of who you all are.

Enjoy! They will be fantastic!

Ah yes, I am so not photogenic either but it is good to have the pics to look back on later, sometimes much later! I'm also grateful for Photoshop... Good luck tomorrow & hope the ear feels better.

I'm so grateful that I found your blog... its a lovely gentle shove from the universe for me to sit and be still and say thank you.

I hope the drugs kick in, and kick that ear infection to the kerb. look forward to seeing some of the pics :-)

Thank goodness for photographers who can make everyone look amazing! (Not that you don't already I'm sure) Hope those drugs do the trick and the shoot goes just as it should :)

I can't wait to hear all about your photo session! Tim has done an amazing job with Beth and Emily!
I adore photos... taking them, looking at them. Little time capsules. I often look through old photos. And like you, I'm so pleased I take so many of them!
Have a happy weekend, and hope you're feeling better soon. xxx

I love family shots. You see how the family changes over time. I try to do this every few years. The natural ones are the best!

Oh no - ear infections are the pits. Makes you realise why kids grizzle so much when they get them hey?

I'm always gratful for photographs. I'd be grateful to be in a few more though - I need to take the leap and just jump in - bad hair/face/anything day and all!

Hope your shoot goes well - exciting! Am sure the cobwebs and chocolate stains will be totally chic ;-)

I love photo's. We have family photos all over our walls and our albums are full. We generally fill an album every 18 months and I just love that these are our memories and love sitting back together flipping through the albums reminiscing, loving & laughing x

Weirdly, I don't mind having my photo taken, but try and get me on a video camera and I will want to shove it somewhere unpleasant. Especially if you ask me to TALK on it!
Your photos are sure to be gorgeous! Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

Me too...I dislike having my photo taken with a passion but love getting my kids done :)
I actually saw a photo of myself the other night that hubby snapped and boy was I shocked at how much post baby weight I am carrying. Typical for a photo to show all the flaws :)

Hope today is a blast.

Oh I do hope you are on the mend soon! And I know it's a little too late, but if you leave a moist facewasher on the "weet-bix glue" for a few mins, it usually softens it enough to get it off ;) Or perhaps you could talk to Sanitarium about marketing it's main product in a different way? Tee hee hee
Hope your shoot went well :)

How painful, you poor thing! Tim takes such down to earth, magic looking shots, I think you and the fam are in for a treat. Hope you feel 100% for the shoot and we get to see a little sneak peek of the finished product xo
