This week I'm grateful for... memories

How was your Easter? Did you get a chance to put your feet up and eat way too much chocolate?

I did!

We enjoyed ourselves silly down at Gran and Pops' house in Fibrotown. We always do. Gran and Pops still live in the house I grew up in and it's always going to be 'home' to me. I love that I can tuck the Tsunamis up for the night in the very room that I used to be tucked up in. I love that they can go wild with their adored cousins in the very backyard where I went wild with mine. I love that there is a memory around every corner (mostly because my dad is one of those dads who refuse to throw anything away, but more on that some other time!).

So, this week I'm grateful for...

118. Memories - and the time to indulge in them. My memory isn't the best, but I love those flashes of certainty you get from time to time when you remember something that you thought you'd forgotten.

119. Chocolate - what would Easter be without it? But I'm especially grateful that these days chocolate is a genuine 'sometimes' treat for me rather than a 'most day's indulgence. And really, who cares if 'sometimes' I eat, like, car loads of the stuff... That's still 'sometimes', right?

120. Support - I'm still a bit choked up over the support my blog received on her (she's definitely a girl) first birthday. Sob. What an honour it is to play a little part in so many wonderful women's and Glen's blogging life.  Thank you.

So, what's making you smile today? Add your I'm Grateful For post to the list below (and please, we love you, but it really does matter that your post is a Grateful one and not just a random), add the button (grab the code from my sidebar and paste it into your post) and pretty-please add a link back to me.  Then pop over to visit other bloggers who are spreading a little sunshine.
Happy weekend to you!

I have written more posts about our Eater break then I intended, which really goes to show how much fun it was. Topped off by all the playing with cousins, makes me wish we did it more often.

Those memories are treasures and so much history for your kiddos to soak up.

Sounds so happy.

It is such a special time.

It's been memory lane all week here and the Wedding has tipped me over the edge. I keep flashing back to 1981 and sitting on the floor in front of a portable B&W TV to watch Diana's wedding.

I'm officially over chocolate. The boys have forgotten about it. I'm throwing the rest away!!

I have all my kids photos backed up at lest 3 times for fear of losing them... Memories are precious, but it's good to have something tangible to help bring them to surface.

Lovely post! Childhood memories that come flooding back are awesome, sometimes I'd love to go back there, just to experience some of it again.
I have been SUCH a piggy this Easter period. I am almost ashamed to admit this, but I will, because it my cleanse me of my guilt a little... I ate a whole 100g Lindt egg in one sitting! Just started... and couldn't stop!
Yikes, I usually have more self control. It will be good to get all of the Easter choccie out of the house, no more temptation once it's gone.

I was thinking a lot about memories yesterday.

My girls came home from school and headed straight to the dining table where they knew afternoon tea would be waiting, along with lots of cold water to drink.

I stood there treasuring the moment, hoping they remember the time and love I put in each day to making sure afternoon tea is there and they have a calm, quiet space to decompress after school.

When I was 7yo I watched Charles & Di get married, my family was living in Nigeria at the time, it was a big event with many expat families crammed in trying to watch on a small black and white television.

Last night my 7yo daughter and I sat together in our loungeroom, with just Daddy and her little sister for company. We watched Wills & Kate get married on our big screen colour TV.

I wondered if one day she would be sitting with her daughter to watch a Royal Wedding.

I love taking trips down memory lane and sharing in my past times with our children.
Funnily enough this year I did not indulge in any easter delights and being the chocoholic I am that is saying something :)
Have a great weekend.

Some lovely things to be grateful for! I'm still in the process of weaning myself off Easter chocolate. Half a bunny in one session is a step forward from eating the entire bunny, right? xxx

I like it when a song or a smell brings back a long forgotten memory from childhood - reminds us what complicated things our brains are...and what a wonder childhood is :-)

Mmmm - chocolate.

I love flashes of memories, and it is always fun to discuss them with others and see how different our perceptions of past events were!

Oh, I'm so envious that your parents still live in your childhood home. This must never be taken for granted! I wish, wish, wish that I had those sort of memories! Embrace every holiday at your parent's place. It's especially gorgeous that your kids sleep in your bed. Aaaw!

And making such a successful year out of your blog tells me much about you! You can make anything a hit. xx

Sounds divine going back to your family home with the kiddies! My grandparents still have the house I grew up in as an extra house (they live in town now but can't bear to give up the farm house so they float between the two) and it is so special for me to take my girls back there as the third generation of children in the family to enjoy it. I grew up with tons of cousins, so the only sad thing is that my girls only have one cousin who lives in Australia :-( Have a lovely week, look forward to your next post!

That is so lovely being able to have those special memories and then for your little ones to be able to share them to I'm a bit of a sentimental kind of gal. Hope you had a great weekend. xo
